New! Online course for MFL teachers (Post-Primary)

A new online course on digital technology for Modern Foreign Language (MFL) teachers (post-primary) is up and running! Following a short pilot in the last term, the course is now open to all and available until May 2025.
This self-paced online course was developed by Oide Technology in Education in partnership with Post-Primary Languages Ireland (PPLI). Taking just three hours in your own time, it will lead you through three modules of direct relevance to your classroom teaching. These are as follows:
- Digital technologies for speaking skills
- Digital technologies for listening skills
- Digital technologies for assessment in MFL.
This new online course for MFL Teachers course features lessons, good practice videos, resource pages and more. You will also access a learning journal that you will complete as you go through the course and will come away from it with practical actions for your own teaching.
Several teachers participated in the pilot course last term and found it to be extremely useful. Accordingly, we are excited to bring it to a wider audience during this 2024/25 school year.

Intending participants need a Scoilnet Account for self-enrolment, but nothing more…just self-enrol and engage with the course whenever suits you, including during holiday/break periods and weekends.
You can complete the course three hours in succession or in shorter blocks of time spread over several weeks. A certificate is available for those who complete the course in full. But if you are only interested in one module or certain resources, you can just dip in and out of different modules as needed. An e-tutor, who will process your (brief) course assignment, will also be available to support you from mid-September onwards.
