Digital Technologies in a Geography lesson

Video Overview

A Geography Teacher discusses the use of Wizer.ie in his classroom. The teacher describes how he uses this tool to aid with distant learning. It allows him to assign differentiated tasks to students and provide individual feedback. The students then work at their own pace to complete the different tasks.

Description

A secondary school geography teacher implements ICT in a lesson on volcanoes. There is a mix of students in the classroom, in the overflow area and at home. Students watch a video on the topic and answer questions on their learning before moving forward. Wizer.me is then used to generate worksheets that are specific to students’ abilities. The teacher shares feedback to students, both orally and written. Students can also share their questions with the teacher both orally, written or by video. Students can then collaborate with their peers via video. This approach to learning suits the needs of the students as they can work at a pace that suits them. The video and lesson content can be reused each year, with slight tweaks made as necessary.
