Description

The vice principal discusses the implementation of ICT in the school for teaching and learning. A group of teachers collaborated together to look at ICT uses in the school. The use of ICT allows for skill development and collaboration for learning. Wifi is available for every teacher and student to access in order to successfully use technology for learning. A group of teachers came together and looked at the site ‘Surface Pro’ for learning. The vice principal notes that strong policies on phone and social media usage is not required, but more so a policy on appropriate internet use when using technology for learning purposes. Each student has access to ‘Office 365′ to use as part of their learning and task completion. The use of digital portfolios in transition year has been a successful way to include technology in the students’ education. The vice principal shares that it was important for teachers to engage in upskilling in particular areas as in some cases, students had more experience and knowledge in technology skills than the teachers. Parental involvement and awareness has been important for the school, with the creation of the school Twitter account to keep parents informed of school life.
