ICT in the MFL Classroom – Creating content using digital recorders

ICT in the MFL Classroom – Creating content using digital recorders

Video Overview

Interview with Teacher about the use of ICT in his German classroom to enhance teaching and learning. The class uses USB microphones to record themselves having conversations and playing them back as peer assessment. They then take the audio and incorporate it into a story on computers and present it to the class.

Description

German teacher talking about how they use USB microphones with their first years and TY classes. First years plan what they are going to say about their family and draw a picture. They then record themselves talking about their family in German and work in pairs assessing their recordings. They upload their audio and their picture onto the computer and create a book. Teacher uses the books for comprehension later in the year. TY students engage in the same activity but with questions from the Leaving Certificate Oral exam. Pupils work in pairs and peer assess their vocabulary and pronunciation.
