Digital Learning Spaces in Le Chéile Secondary School
Video Overview
Interview with Principal about the importance of using space creatively in a school. She discusses how they are using an innovative approach to learning spaces. They are making their learning mobile through the use of tablets by all students and staff, encouraging the use of the whole school space, inside and outside.
Description
Principal discusses their new school and how they have a wide variety of learning spaces. Teachers are not restricted to one room or space and are encouraged to move around the school and teach in different settings. Pupils and teachers use iPads to allow for this movement. Classrooms have boards and the front and back of the classroom to allow for fluid movement. School is learning about Innovative Learning Spaces from an Australian school and are learning about David Thornberg and his 4 learning spaces- Campfire, Wateringhole, Cave and Apply. Pupils engage with Blue Skies Mondays where there are 20 workshops for them to choose from. They use their iPads to sign up and showcase their findings at the end of the 6 week stint.
