Description
A secondary school maths teacher discusses how the use of ICT enhances the learning in her classroom. Students use the app ‘Geogebra‘ to understand graphing and the locations of each axis. Students can plot their graphs virtually on the app to see the learning of the topic. Students complete a written graph also, in which they later compare their virtual graph to their written graph. Students are given the opportunity to self assess and peer assess their work in the lesson. Students can discuss the findings and share how they may solve the problems differently in the future. The app ‘Geogebra’ does not require Wifi. Lessons can continue, even if there is an issue with the internet in the school. Teachers in the school use Google Docs to share planning documentation within subjects departments. This saves time for staff and they have the opportunity to learn strategies and ideas from one another.
