Description
A secondary school language teacher discusses the uses of technology in French lessons. Technology for assessment purposes is a significant area in her classes. Students use their own technology devices such as mobile phones in the lessons. Kahoot is used for assessment of new learning such as new vocabulary and sentence structure. The teacher finds that using Kahoot for assessment, she has immediate access to data and students’ understanding of the content. During the French lessons, students move away from the traditional use of pen and paper; and now integrate IT in their learning in a meaningful way. Students also enjoy using ‘Quizlet’ as a form of assessment also. Students can use IT for both classwork and homework. Student collaboration when creating videos is important, students learn from one another and experience taking on various roles in the learning process. Students use ‘Adobe Spark’ for the creation of their videos.
